The Florida Municipal Communicators Association joins you in celebrating the amazing work happening in municipal communications departments across Florida. Below are just a few types of awards that our cities, towns and villages are receiving from state and national organizations for the work. City of Port St. Lucie

“Campaigns, Programs & Plans” Grand Award (July 2018, The Apex Awards)
NICE Program Marketing Campaign“Just a fabulous program that gives residents a chance to name their own neighborhoods and establish pride as well as gaining a united voice when working with city government on important issues.  The real kicker?  This program was completely funded by recycling revenue!  Take a look at the website and you’ll see a beautifully designed, well laid-out presentation with excellent content and user-friendly screens.”

City of North Port

“Crisis Communication” Award (April 2018, Government Social Media)
-Working in conjunction with Sarasota County, the City of North Port was a finalist for the best Crisis Communication during Hurricane Irma.

City of North Port Police Department

“Best Use of Facebook” Award (September 2017, City-County Communications & Marketing Association)
-City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA) awarded the North Port Police Department with the “Best Use of Facebook.” Judges attributed the number of cases solved and overall community interaction was the reason the police department stood out: “Great to see your use of Facebook paying off in locating missing persons, solving crimes and sharing heartwarming stories. You have succeeded in connecting with the community and so much more!

City of Oldsmar

“City Spirit” Award (August 2017, Florida League of Cities)
-The City of Oldsmar’s winning entry, Oldsmar’s People Centennial, showcased how the city and its citizens worked together to celebrate the 100-year anniversary of the founding of the Oldsmar by Ransom Eli Olds—the inventor of the Oldsmobile and REO automobiles. Scores of citizens, businesses, and civic organizations partnered with the city to organize numerous events tailored to its diverse community. The collaboration culminated in an event for citizens of all ages that displayed Oldsmar’s true City Spirit.

City of Tallahassee

“Golden Image” Award (August 2017, Florida Public Relations Association)
-The City of Tallahassee hosted ‘Pokemon in the Park’ to celebrate the city’s first smart park. The marketing efforts for this special event earned the city a Judges’ Choice and an Award of Distinction in the Golden Image Award Program hosted by the Florida Public Relations Association. Special Events includes any program developed to commemorate a special event, observance or one-time activity.

City of Doral

“Blue Pencil & Gold Screen” Award (June 2017, National Association of Government Communicators)
-The City of Doral earned an Award of Excellence in the Public Service Announcement and Shoestring Budget award categories for their “See Something, Say Something” campaign. The Doral Police Department asked the Public Affairs section to produce a public service announcement based on the Department of Homeland Security theme “if you see something, say something.” To enhance the authenticity of the message, they decided to write and shoot their own version using local people, language and locations.
